No one was injured Sunday afternoon when a gyroplane was forced to make an emergency landing on the city’s east side.

The aircraft had taken off from the Putnam County Regional Airport but the pilot reported it began to lose power.

Unable to return to the airport, the pilot made an emergency landing in a field near Ascena Retail Group shortly before 12:30 p.m.

There were no injuries in the incident.

Deputy Scott Ducker reported that both the Putnam County Sheriff’s Department and Greencastle Police Department were on the scene, awaiting investigators from the Federal Aviation Administration.
