Brazil Concert Band performing musical favorites Sunday

The Brazil Concert Band with Director Matthew Huber will present “All-Time Favorites” on July 12 at 8 p.m. at Forest Park, rain or shine.

Favorites from “The Music Man” by Meredith Willson include “Seventy-Six Trombones,” “Till There Was You,” “The Wells Fargo Wagon,” “Lida Rose” and “Marian The Librarian,” in a arrangement by Philip Lang.

From “Mary Poppins” by Richard and Robert Sherman, with arranger Alfred Reed, comes “A Spoonful of Sugar,” “Chim Chim Cher-ee,” “Stay Awake” and “Supercalifragilisticexpialidocious.”

“Damn Yankees” features “Near to You,” “Heart,” “Whatever Lola Wants” and “Shoeless Joe” by Richard Adler and Jerry Ross, in a setting by Paul Yoder.

Songs from the big band era come from “A Tribute to Glenn Miller,” with “Tuxedo Junction,” “Little Brown Jug,” “Jersey Bounce” and “American Patrol” arranged by Henry Gass.

“Standard Pop Favorites” scored by Frank Cofield, with “Heartaches,” “The Old Piano Roll Blues” and “Sugar Blues,” will also be played.

The band will also perform “Quality Plus March,” “March To Mecca” and “The Scarlet King” by Indiana’s own Fred Jewell, as well as “Lassus Trombone” and “Men of Ohio” by Henry Fillmore.

The Brazil Concert Band will perform live every Sunday evening in Forest Park during July and through Aug. 30.
