Harriet ‘Jean’ Demoret

Harriet “Jean” Demoret, 75, of Lafayette, passed away on Monday, July 20, 2020 at 4:30 a.m. at her residence.

Jean was born on April 12, 1945 in Greencastle to the late Donovan and Mary (Gardner) Shoaf.

She graduated from Bainbridge High School in 1963.

Jean was married to Floyd Demoret, and he preceded her in death.

Jean worked in food service and maintenance for Putnam County Hospital and South Montgomery High School.

Jean enjoyed spending time at the lake and listening to country music, especially her good friend Larry Miller’s music. She loved her dog Cookie and cat Murphy.

Surviving is one daughter, Regina Brady of Lafayette and one brother, James F. (Carrie) Smith of Edwardsport. Also surviving are her son-in-law Mohammed, son-in-law Thomas (Karen) Burks, grandchild Britni Burks and great-grandchild Skymerae Burks.

She was preceded in death by one son, John H. Smith, brother James Shoaf and sister Donna Ann Gibson.

There will be private family services.
