Update on several conferences and fall sports

On Monday:

• The Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference announced that high-risk contact sports soccer, football and volleyball will be played in the spring of 2021.

The HCAC plans to have competitions this fall in tennis, golf and cross country as scheduled.

The Division III conference includes mostly Indiana schools such as Rose-Hulman, Franklin, Hanover and Manchester.

• Published reports indicated that the Missouri Valley Football Conference (which includes Indiana State as a member) is expected to announce later this week that games will be played this fall as scheduled.

• The Indiana High School Athletic Association has not yet announced any changes to its fall sports schedule.

Practice begins this week for girls’ golf teams, with matches set to begin on Monday, Aug. 3.

All other fall sports will begin official practices on Monday, with games starting on Sat., Aug. 15.

• The Crossroads League, an NAIA conference which includes Marian and Taylor universities, plans to continue its fall sports as scheduled.

• The Great Lakes Valley Conference, a Division II league including Indianapolis and Saginaw Valley State, will have cross country, golf and tennis this fall with all other fall sports moving to the spring.

• Obviously, schedules for all athletic competitions are subject to change depending on health conditions.
