Crashing Down

Monday, August 10, 2020
In the wake of a strong thunderstorm which swept through the area Monday evening, fencing in front of the construction site for the new Old National Bank hangs beside Washington Street in downtown Greencastle. Scanner traffic indicated that there were a number of trees and limbs down in the community.

  • Is the new Old National Bank on the corner where the old gas company building used to be? Can someone let me know? Thanks.

  • NW corner of Washington and Vine, caddy corner from the mason’s lodge. Most recently it was parking and drive thru for the bank.

  • For us old timers, it is where George's Pizza was located, and before that, I am drawing a blank. Someone please help me out. I remember going in there as a kid and buying candy before heading into the Voncastle for a movie.

  • I miss the Voncastle and never really understood why it was torn down. After that we had the Chateau on the East side of the square. Then there was a little restaurant on the North side of the square owned by Roscoe Scott.
