Census efforts continue in Greencastle, Putnam County

Starting in July, 2020 census takers began the door-to-door process of making sure the U.S. Census count is as accurate as possible.

Census takers have completed virtual COVID-19 training on social distancing and other health and safety protocols in preparation for in-person interviews.

Residents can complete their census on line in less than 10 minutes at 2020census.gov.

Greencastle and Putnam County are currently responding at levels better than the national response rate of 63.5 percent.

Greencastle is reporting at 67.4 percent, while Putnam County is at 65.2 percent, according to census officials.

Deadline to submit census information is Sept. 30.

Census data is used to establish voting districts as well as federal funds distribution. It is also mandated in Article 1, Section 2 of Constitution.
