Wednesday, August 19, 2020

GROVELAND – U.S. 36 will be down to one 12-foot lane on two bridges near Groveland, the Indiana Department of Transportation (INDOT) has announced.

Work begins Monday, Aug. 24 on U.S. 36 over Monocah Creek located just over three miles west of State Road 75.

The following week, Tuesday, Sept 2 crews will begin working on the U.S. 36 bridge over Clear Creek, located two miles west of SR 75. The contractor will be placing polymeric concrete overlay on the bridge decks.

Traffic will be controlled at both bridges with a traffic signal. Construction on these two bridges is scheduled to last through the last week of September, weather permitting.

This project was awarded to HIS Contractors for $1.1 million. The contract includes numerous bridges in Putnam and Montgomery counties. Work is scheduled to last through the end of October of this year.

INDOT reminds motorists to follow the posted work zone speed limit, use caution and consider worker safety when traveling through a construction zone.

  • That is a dangerous area for construction. I saw a terrible car/motorcycle accident there this summer. I just hope people slow down and use caution.
