Circles of Putnam County accepting new participants

Monday, August 24, 2020

It can be tiresome and overwhelming trying to put food on the table or pay the bills. Sometimes it is impossible to see the light at the end of the tunnel as you struggle to survive and keep your family safe and healthy. You see opportunities around you, but you are never sure if they are the right ones or how to take the right step for fear of tipping the teetering scale the wrong direction.

If this sounds like you, then Circles of Putnam County might be for you.

Whether you receive assistance like SNAP, Medicaid, other benefits or you are making just enough not to qualify for assistance but still struggling, Circles can be the guiding light you need.

Participants will attend a free 12-week learning experience and gain tools to help them on their journey on Thursdays from 6-8 p.m. at Gobin Church in Greencastle. There is no religious education involved.

Families and individuals are welcome, but this group will be limited to six participants with COVID-19 guidelines. These six participants will meet community members who can offer valuable resources and guide them to opportunities.

After the 12 weeks, participants will be paired with allies who check in with them, support them and help them on their path from simply surviving to fully thriving. Circles is a safe community with the opportunity to continue coming each week as often as participants would like. They will be listened to and their views can be part of conversations that empower others.

Anyone interested in attending one of the weekly gatherings or signing up for the group may contact Lori Miller at 653-6049. Orientation for the new season is Sept. 3, with the group starting on Sept. 10.

Transformers of Putnam County, an outreach of Gobin United Methodist Church, has provided these work groups for Putnam County residents since 2013. The organization is also supported financially by the Putnam County Community Foundation and the United Way of Putnam County.
