Richard ‘Ted’ Ledbetter

Richard “Ted” Ledbetter, 71, of Bloomington, passed away Sunday, Aug. 30, 2020, surrounded by his family.

He was born to parents James and Alma Ledbetter in Seymour, where he attended school.

Ted was a truly remarkable man. He had an incredible talent for touching and uplifting lives. His unparalleled humor, wisdom, compassion and orneriness were the perfect blend to win over any beating heart. With a gentle touch, he has inspired many to become their best. He was deeply loved, cherished and admired by so many. His unwavering sacrifices in raising three children as a single parent, embracing his stepchildren, bearing the burdens of others as if they were his own, and always putting others in front of himself all speak to his innate ability for loving and caring.

For those who knew Ted, the world has become a much darker place since his passing. However, he would want us to know that he is exactly where he wants to be — in heaven. Ted’s faith in God was unbelievably strong.

He had an equally strong love for Linda Ledbetter, the love of his life, married in 2002. Ted and Linda lived together in Bloomington with their dog Zoe, and they were the epitome of love and happiness.

Ted was a man of God, loving husband and father, provider, giver, mentor, healer, friend, teacher of discipline and work ethic, and simply put — a superhuman. He will be dearly missed.

He is lovingly remembered and survived by his wife, Linda Ledbetter; children Laura “Ellie” Branagin, Amy Blake McGuire and Aaron Ledbetter; stepchildren Christie Lynn Cox, Chadwick Todd and Amy Dee; 13 grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.

Services will be privately held.

Memorial contributions may be made in Richard’s memory to Vineyard Community Church of Bloomington.

Allen Funeral Home and Crematory, 4155 South Old State Road 37 is handling the arrangements and online condolences, photos and memories may be shared with family and friends at www.allencares.com.
