Tiger Cubs looking to extend volleyball county title streak

Thursday, September 10, 2020

Greencastle volleyball coach Maggie Walters has led each of her eight previous teams to Putnam County volleyball championships.

On Saturday, Walters and the Tiger Cubs will look to extend that streak as they will compete in the annual event at Cloverdale.

In a revised schedule format, the host Clovers will play South Putnam in the opener at 9 a.m. with the Tiger Cubs meeting North Putnam at 10:30 a.m. in a rematch of last year’s final match.

The consolation match between the first two losers is at noon, followed by the championship at approximately 1:30 p.m.

The junior varsity portion of the tourney will be played at a later date.

South Putnam brings the best record into the tourney at 10-1.

Greencastle has a 6-5 record, while North Putnam was 6-4 going into Thursday’s match at Parke Heritage and Cloverdale is 0-12.
