Putnam County sheriff’s deputies investigated five recent property-damage crashes.

• At 4:15 p.m. on Sunday, Roger A. Wright, 64, Coatesville, was parked in a parking spot attempting to back out of a space at the Heritage Lake Marina in a 2013 Chevrolet Silverado.

A 2009 Chevrolet Malibu was double parked behind the vehicle to right of Wright’s truck. He did not realize it was there and backed out, turning right, colliding with the parked vehicle.

Deputy Brian Helmer estimated damage at $1,000-$2,500.

• At 6:59 p.m. on Saturday, Sherrill J. Benson, 83, Cloverdale, was westbound on U.S. 40 attempting to turn southbound at U.S. 231 in a 2014 Ford Focus. Grace A. Maguire, 25, Zionsville, was eastbound on U.S. 40 traveling through the U.S. 231 intersection in a 2006 Hyundai Sonata.

Benson told Deputy Jeffery Freeman the sun had been in her eyes and she could not see Maguire’s vehicle. She turned south and collided with Maguire’s car.

Benson’s vehicle sustained moderate front end damage, while Maguire’s was moderately damaged in the driver’s side rear.

Both vehicles were towed.

The drivers both told Freeman they were not injured.

Freeman estimated damage at $5,000-$10,000.

• At 9:45 p.m. on Friday, Michael V. Cooper, 64, Center Point, was eastbound on County Road 700 South in a 2008 Nissan Quest when he hit a deer.

Deputy Daniel Birt estimated damage at $1,000-$2,500.

• At 5 p.m. on Friday, Todd D. Wagner, 31, Greenfield, was pulling out of the work zone on U.S. 231 North in Franklin Township in a 2001 Kenworth T800. Wagner told Deputy Birt there was a small gap in the traffic and he believed the last car had passed. He said he saw the next dump truck pulling in and believed the road was clear.

However, a 2017 Dodge driven by David C. Bradshaw, 41, Indianapolis, was in Wagner’s blind spot. As Wagner pulled into the driving lane, Bradshaw said he had nowhere to go.

The damage ran down the entire passenger side of Bradshaw’s vehicle, while only the front bumper was bent on Wagner’s dump truck.

Birt estimated damage at $2,500-$5,000.

• At 9:58 a.m. on Tuesday, Sept. 22, John K. Moss, 61, Center Point, was southbound on County Road 725 East just north of U.S. 40 in a 2003 Dodge Ram approaching a narrow bridge. Nancy A. Shoffner, 62, Fillmore was northbound approaching the bridge in a 2002 Ford Excursion.

Both vehicles entered the bridge, not realizing they would not fit. The driver’s side mirrors of the vehicles struck one another.

Deputy Helmer estimated damage at less than $1,000.
