Sheriff’s Office

Putnam County sheriff’s deputies investigated three recent property-damage crashes.

• At 7:57 p.m. on Saturday, Timothy D. Parker, 22, Coatesville, was southbound on U.S. 231 in a 2005 Volkswagen Jetta when he looked down to change the radio.

When he did this, the car left the side of the road then crossed over the centerline when he tried to steer back onto the road. Parker told Deputy Robert Soilleux he overcorrected in trying to get back into his own lane, losing control and skidding sideways into the ditch.

The car hit cattle fencing, damaging a small section.

The property owner, Timothy Perkins, was notified and he immediately began making repairs so the cattle would not escape.

The car was towed. Soilleux estimated damage at $5,000-$10,000.

• At 8:33 p.m. on Tuesday, Sept. 29, Brianna D. Davidson, 28, Greencastle, was northbound on County Road 600 West just south of County Road 500 North in a 2015 GMC Terrain when she hit a deer.

Davidson complained of left arm pain and was observed by Putnam County EMS, but opted to sign a statement of release.

The vehicle was not operational and was pushed onto adjacent land owned by the family.

Deputy Randy Patrick estimated damage at $5,000-$10,000.

• At 7:44 a.m. on Tuesday, Sept. 29, Gerd N. Taevere, 48, Indianapolis, was pulling onto State Road 243 from the parking lot of Buck and Dumb Bass Outdoors in a 2020 Toyota Tundra. However, he told Deputy Tanner Brown he saw a vehicle coming around the corner and stopped to wait for it. At that point, he was rear-ended by the vehicle behind him.

Earnest Nelson, 82, Indianapolis, was in a 2007 Kia Sedona. He told Brown he saw Taevere begin to pull out and he began to do the same. However, as he was looking right, he hit Taevere’s vehicle. He did not know it had stopped.

Brown estimated damage at $1,000-$2,500.
