Putnamville Correctional Facility had been one of the main drivers of increases in COVID-19 in the community in August, but cases have slowed considerably.

Meanwhile, six offenders remain in isolation for either having COVID-19 or exposure to it. Another 70 offenders are in isolation for possible exposure.

A total of 35 Putnamville staff members have tested positive, 23 of whom have recovered.

At DePauw University, which plans to bring all students back to campus for second semester (see story, 10A), there are no current active cases in the campus community. Only two individual remain in quarantine for possible exposure.

The university has issued a total 1,510 COVID-19 tests, 1,434 of which have come back negative. There have been 19 positives and 53 tests deemed invalid.

Meanwhile, with Putnam County schools on fall break this week, the numbers in schools remain unchanged — four positive cases at Cloverdale since the start of school, three at North Putnam, two at South Putnam and one at Greencastle.
