County Jail

Seven people were booked in the Putnam County Jail recently

Wednesday

• At 6:28 p.m. Tanner N. Tuberosa, 26, Terre Haute, was lodged at the jail for carrying a handgun without a license, possession of paraphernalia and possession of marijuana.

• At 3:18 p.m. Kirsten L. Anderson, 34, Cloverdale, was taken into custody for invasion of privacy and violating a restraining order.

• At 4:16 a.m. Sheena M. Steigmeyer, 30, Terre Haute, was housed at the jail for possession of a handgun without a license, possession of methamphetamine, unlawful possession of a syringe and possession of paraphernalia with a prior conviction.

• At 4:07 a.m. Nathen D. Denton, 21, Mooresville, was booked in for possession of methamphetamine and unlawful possession of a syringe.

• At 1:05 a.m. Dustin J. Knight, 36, Cloverdale, was lodged at the jail for possession of methamphetamine, possession of marijuana, possession of paraphernalia with a prior conviction and on an out-of-county warrant.

Tuesday

• At 11:21 p.m. Kaylee M. Stafford, 23, Terre Haute, was taken into custody for possession of methamphetamine and possession of paraphernalia.

• At 6:19 p.m. Corrie D. Brown, 30, Spencer, was housed at the jail as a habitual traffic violator.

City Police

One recent arrest was reported by Greencastle City Police officers.

• At 5 p.m. Monday, Troy Morphew, 46, Greencastle, was arrested by Capt. Charles Inman.

Taken into custody on Crown Street, Morphew was lodged in the Putnam County Jail.

Morphew was arrested on two Putnam County warrants, one for possession of methamphetamine and unlawful possession of a syringe, and another warrant for false informing and disorderly conduct.

Sheriff’s Office

Putnam County sheriff’s deputies investigated three recent property-damage crashes.

• At 5:39 a.m. on Wednesday, Joseph C. Reid, 21, Coatesville, was westbound on U.S. 40 when his 2002 Chevrolet Silverado drifted off the side of the road.

In doing so, the pickup sideswiped several trees, sustaining damage along the passenger side.

Deputy Scott Ducker estimated damage at $2,500-$5,000.

• At 7:27 p.m. Elizabeth V. Patterson, 56, Greencastle, was westbound on County Road 125 South in a 2014 Buick Encore when she hit a deer.

Deputy Randy Patrick estimated damage at $2,500-$5,000.

• At 6:18 p.m. on Monday, Charles R. Keller, 81, Cloverdale, was northbound on County Road 250 West just south of U.S. 40 in a 2005 Chrysler Pacifica when he lost control in a curve.

The vehicle ran off the road and into the ditch.

Keller told Deputy Patrick he lost traction in the 90-degree turn on the gravel road.

A female passenger was examined by EMS and signed a statement of release.

The vehicle was pulled from the ditch by Curtis Wrecker, but was operable to drive from the scene.

Patrick estimated damage at $2,500-$5,000.

City Fire

The Greencastle Fire Department responded to 11 recent dispatches:

• At 1:45 p.m. on Wednesday, Nov. 4, GFD responded to a grass fire located at 5887 W CR 375 South. Units arrived at 1:58 and helped put out the fire. GFD went back into service at 2:59 p.m.

• At 6:59 p.m. on Wednesday, Nov. 4, GFD responded to an unauthorized burn at 1033 Avenue E. The fire was put out prior to GFD’s arrival. GFD went back into service at 7:36 p.m.

• At 2:28 p.m. last Friday, GFD responded to a brush fire located at 1437 W. CR 285 South. Units arrived at put out the fire. GFD went back into service at 3:38 p.m.

• At 10:34 p.m. last Friday, GFD was dispatched to Phi Kappa Psi for a fire alarm. Firefighters could not find a cause for the alarm. When they arrived. GFD went back into service at 10:47 p.m.

• At 10:52 p.m. on Saturday, GFD was dispatched to 415 S. Locust St. for a fire alarm. Firefighters could not find a reason for the alarm when they arrived. GFD went back into service at 11:04 p.m.

• At 9:54 a.m. on Sunday, GFD responded to a trash fire located at 501 N. Madison St. Firefighters put out the trash fire when they arrived. GFD went back into service at 10:06 a.m.

• At 12:37 p.m. on Sunday, GFD responded to a brush fire located at 106 South St. Units did not put out the fire when they arrived because the location was outside the city limits. GFD went back into service at 12:53 p.m.

• At 6:16 p.m. on Tuesday, GFD responded to a mutual aid wood fire located near 2373 W. CR 500 South. Units arrived and assisted the Reelsville Fire Department with extinguishing the fire. GFD went back into service at 8:17 p.m.

• At 9 p.m. on Tuesday, GFD was dispatched to 1138 Castlebury Dr. for a smoke alarm. Firefighters did not find a reason for the alarm when they arrived. GFD went back into service at 9:06 p.m.

• At 5:37 p.m. on Wednesday, GFD was dispatched to Robe-Ann Park for a child stuck in a swing. Firefighters were able to free the child when they arrived. GFD went back into service at 6:16 p.m.

• At 1:50 a.m. on Thursday, GFD was dispatched to 1306 S. Bloomington St. for a fire alarm. Firefighters did not find a cause for the alarm when they arrived. GFD went back into service at 2:19 p.m.

Additionally, GFD recently performed 20 medical assists and had four disregards.
