Indianapolis-based jazz guitarist Sandy Williams, a Greencastle native and DePauw University School of Music faculty member, is featured in this week’s Greencastle Virtual Music Festival concert, which debuts at gvmf.live at 7:30 p.m. Wednesday.

Joining Williams is jazz bassist Jesse Wittman, performing a set recently recorded at Gobin Church.

The program also includes innovative multi-track covers of pop/rock songs performed by cellist Avery Waite and music of Debussy as performed by pianist Taka Kigawa during the 2018 Greencastle Summer Music Festival.

The Greencastle Virtual Music Festival is committed to creating interactive experiences with “friends making and enjoying music with friends,” including “music parties” on Zoom each Wednesday at 7:30 p.m., during which audience members can listen together and chat with the performers. Each program is approximately 40 minutes long, followed by discussion.

The mostly-prerecorded programs go “live” simultaneously at gvmf.live (for the Zoom music party), greencastlemusic.org, and facebook.com/greencastlevirtualmusic.

To be added to the mailing list, write artistic director Eric Edberg at greencastlevmf@gmail.com.

The programs, which will continue until coronavirus restrictions are lifted (and possibly after) are made possible by the Greencastle Summer Music Festival family of donors and its endowment at the Putnam County Community Foundation, the Putnam County Convention and Visitors Bureau, the Inn at DePauw and the DePauw Performing Arts Series.
