Nazarene Church welcomes new pastor

Greencastle Church of the Nazarene will welcome its new pastor and his family on Sunday, Dec. 6.

Pastor James Diaz and wife Ashley will now be serving the Greencastle congregation in the roles formerly occupied by the recently-retired Bob and Jane Muncie.

Phillip James Diaz was born in 1981 in Lubbock, Texas. He resided with his grandparents in Texas until they moved to Washington, Ind., in 1989.

Ashely Renee Diaz was born in 1984 in Bedford. Her family moved to Washington in 1989 for her father’s call to ministry at the Church of the Nazarene.

Phil and Ashley met at church and attended youth group together. They started dating in 2003 and got married on April 5, 2008.

The couple welcomed daughter Lilli in 2013 and son Liam in 2016.

In the summer of 2019, Phil was ordained a minister in the Church of the Nazarene.

Having accepted the call to full-time ministry at Greenastle Church of the Nazarene, they have relocated from Washington.

In Phil’s spare time, he loves to write, listen to music and play his guitar. He has written several original songs and has released them on various streaming platforms from Spotify to YouTube.

He loves reading his Bible and drinking lots of coffee. He also enjoys traveling with Ashley and their children and discovering new adventures along the way.

Ashley enjoys reading and scrapbooking in her spare time. She loves to visit the Great Smokey Mountains as often as she can and enjoys traveling and spending time with Phil, their children and family.

She also enjoys a good cup of cappucino and listening to the Newsboys.

Phil and Ashley also enjoy singing and playing music with one another. They are excited to be joining the Greencastle community and look forward to making great memories and getting to know everyone.
