Orville Martin and Josephine Martin

Orville Martin, 91, of Ladoga, peacefully passed away on Nov. 20, 2020. Four short days later on Nov. 24, 2020, his precious wife of 71 years, Josephine “Jo” Martin, 88, joined him in heaven.

Orville and Josephine were both born in London, Ky., Orville on Nov. 15, 1929 to the late Walter and Maggie Martin and Josephine on Aug. 10, 1932 to the late George and Carrie Parman.

They were married in May 6, 1949 in London, Ky.

They lived on a farm in Ladoga for more than 50 years. Orville worked for Western Electric for 20 years and then began dairy farming full time, and did so for 60 years. Jo was a homemaker until the children were grown, and then she worked for RR Donnelley in Crawfordsville.

They were members of Parkersburg Christian Church.

Both Orville and Jo loved spending time with their family and friends. They enjoyed farming, canning and gardening. Orville enjoyed watching sports and Jo like to embroider and sew.

They shared a wonderful life together and leave behind many special memories for their family to treasure.

They are survived by their children Gary (Karen) Martin and Sherry (Bill) Loucks; seven grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; son-in-law Dan Hendrix; several siblings; and several nieces and nephews.

They were both preceded in death by their parents, several siblings and daughter Barbara Ann Hendrix.

Due to the current government directive, the family will be having a private funeral service to celebrate the lives of Orville and Jo.

They will be laid to rest with a public committal service at 2:30 p.m. on Friday, Nov. 27 at Roachdale Cemetery with Pastor Jason Grubbs officiating. Social distancing is expected to be followed and masks are required.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Brownsburg Meadows Nursing Home or Parkersburg Christian Church.
