Margaret ‘Peggy’ Ann Mullenix

Margaret “Peggy” Ann Mullenix, 88, of Carbon, passed away on Nov. 25, 2020 while staying in the loving care of Cloverleaf Nursing Home.

Peggy was born on Aug. 17, 1932, in St. Joseph County, Ind., the daughter of William Henry and Bernice Charlotte (Coil) Hunter.

She graduated from Mishawaka High School, in Mishawaka, Ind., in 1950.

She married Thomas Guy Mullenix in 1954, and he preceded her in death in 2006.

Peggy worked at Hunter’s Grocery in Carbon (which was her parents' grocery), Hunt’s Restaurant in Brazil and Hook’s Drug Store. Most of her career was spent working for CBS in Terre Haute. She retired from there after 30 years of service to the company.

Peggy graduated from Harrold Beauty Academy and worked with Joann Rightsell at her beauty shop in Carbon.

Much of her life she spent raising her five sons. She grew up in the Nazarene Church and later attended Christ Community Church. She loved going to Bible study and attending church services. She also loved spending time with her family and especially her grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, William and Bernice Hunter, husband Thomas Mullenix, son Ted Mullenix, sister Beverly and a brother Bill.

Peggy is survived by four sons, Tommy Mullenix of Brazil, Tim Mullenix of Carbon, Terry Mullenix and wife Sheri of Greencastle, and Todd Mullenix and wife Tina of Carbon; 11 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; two sisters, Roberta and Sandy; as well as several nieces, nephews and extended family members.

Visitation will be at Lawson – Miller Chapel, 1702 E. National Ave., Brazil, on Wednesday, Dec. 2 from 4-8 p.m. Private services will be held on Thursday with burial to follow at Calcutta Cemetery. Due to current COVID regulations, masks and social distancing will be required. Also, restrictions on the number of attendees will be recognized.
