Years of Service

Having been a servant to the county “longer than most of us have been alive,” in the words of one of his colleagues, County Councilman Gene Beck is honored during the Monday meeting of the Putnam County Commissioners for his years of service. While Beck has served 26 years as a county commissioner and 12 more on the council, his service to the county dates back more than 50 years. He was hired by the Putnam County Sheriff’s Department in 1966 and later worked for the Putnam County Highway Department. A full story on Beck will be printed in an upcoming edition.
