Correctional officer charged with three felonies, now considered fugitive
PUTNAMVILLE — Charged with three felony counts for a November trafficking incident, a Linton man is now considered a fugitive.
Micah White, 30, a correctional officer at Putnamville Correctional Facility, was formally charged with three felonies: Level 5 felony trafficking with an inmate, Level 5 felony conspiracy to commit trafficking with an inmate and Level 6 felony official misconduct.
The Putnam County Prosecutor’s Office formally filed the charges in Putnam Superior Court on Tuesday, with Judge Denny Bridges issuing a warrant for White’s arrest on Thursday.
Police were apparently unsuccessful in serving the warrant, as PCF issued a brief statement on the matter on Friday.
“White is considered a fugitive at this point and on the run from authority,” Putnamville Public Information Officer Brooke Edwards wrote.
White is described in court documents as a white male, 5-feet-1-inch tall, 140 pounds, with blond hair, though a photo issued by the DOC shows darker hair.
He resides on Southeast 6th Street in Linton.
Anyone with information on White’s whereabouts is asked to call 911.
The investigation into the alleged trafficking is ongoing.
"We have a zero-tolerance policy for the criminal allegations discovered from the result of our investigation," Putnamville Warden Dushan Zatecky said. “We will seek the arrest and prosecution of any employee who chooses to engage in criminal acts.”
If convicted of all three counts, White could face as much as 14.5 years in prison.
