Steffy chosen as 2020 DAR Good Citizen

Fresh off being honored as the 2021 Lilly Scholar, South Putnam’s Evan Steffy was selected by the Washburn Chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution (DAR) as its overall Good Citizen for 2020.

Steffy was announced as the winner of the award during a virtual assembly of school personnel, parents and DAR members on Dec. 10.

One senior from each Putnam County high school was selected to represent their school based on character, community involvement and academic achievement. Each wrote an essay, which they read during the assembly, about the responsibility of good citizenship.

The other contestants in this year’s competition were Grace Elmore from North Putnam, Anastasia Wood from Greencastle and Jessica Geiger from Cloverdale.

Evan is the son of Jamie and Debbie Steffy.
