Man arrested for shooting father in Greene County

SOLSBERRY — A Bloomington man is accused of shooting his father at a Greene County residence Tuesday.

Steven Taylor II, 21, is currently lodged at the Greene County Jail on charges of Level 3 felony aggravated battery, Level 5 felony battery with a deadly weapon and Level 6 felony residential entry.

He was being held without bond as of Wednesday morning.

Around noon on Tuesday, Greene County Dispatch Center received a 911 call reporting a gunshot victim at a Solsberry residence in rural eastern Greene County.

When officers arrived at the residence, they discovered that Steven Taylor had been shot. Taylor was provided immediate medical care and was transported to a local hospital.

Preliminary investigation revealed that Steven Taylor II and father Steven Taylor were involved in an altercation inside the residence, which resulted in the father being shot.

Following the shooting, Taylor II fled on foot from the residence. An intense search by law enforcement officers located the younger man at a residennce on North Legion Road in Greene County.

Once located, he was taken into custody by the Indiana State Police South SWAT team without incident.

The Indiana State Police Bloomington Post is investigating the incident with help from the Greene County Sheriff’s Department.
