PUTNAMVILLE — The Indiana State Police Putnamville District has added a new K-9 team to its patrol efforts, with the graduation of Trooper Kyle Hall and his K-9 partner Barker.

Trooper Hall and Barker, a 1-year old Belgian Malinois, just completed a rigorous 12-week training program. The partners successfully completed training in drug detection, tracking, article searches, building searches, obedience and controlled aggression.

More than 400 hours of training takes place, both day and night and in a variety of weather conditions, prior to the handlers and K-9s being certified.

The new team will be aiding Putnamville Troopers and other local law enforcement agencies with the detection of narcotics, conducting searches and making apprehensions.

“I am excited that Trooper Hall and Barker are ready to get to work in the Putnamville District, taking drugs off the roadways and providing assistance with searches,” Lt. Dan Jones, Putnamville District commander, said. “We are fortunate to have this team working with us.”

Trooper Hall has been a member of the Indiana State Police for six years. He resides in Clay County with his wife Mercedes, his three children and new partner Barker.
