Ned Howard Wright

Ned Howard Wright, 80, of Plainfield, passed away peacefully with his family by his side on Friday, Jan. 1, 2021.

Ned was born to Paul Nelson Wright Jr. and Helen Imogene (McCloud) Wright.

He was a 1958 graduate of Greencastle High School, a 1963 graduate of Indiana University with a teacher degree in physics and chemistry and a graduate of Purdue University with a master’s degree in physics.

He taught high school 36 years, first at Shortridge then Speedway.

Ned was a member of Plainfield Christian Church, an honorary member of the Physics Society, past member of the Masonic Lodge and was a 32nd degree Mason.

He is survived by his wife, Margaret Carole (Nelson) Wright; daughters Julie (Curt) VanWanzeele, Amy (Trent) Cowles, Tracy (Marc) McCardle, Kathy (Wade) LaRoche and Stephanie Wright; 11 grandchildren; sisters Connie (Hal, deceased) Miller, Linda (Gary, deceased) Huber, Diana (Chris, deceased) Ramey; and a brother, Paul “Pete” Wright.

Ned was preceded in death by his parents; a brother, David Wright; and stepfather Leon Buis.

In agreement with his wishes, private graveside services will be held.

Hopkins-Rector Funeral Home, Greencastle, has been entrusted with the arrangements.
