Alan Lee Buser, 72, of Crawfordsville, passed away on Saturday, Jan. 2, 2021 at his home after a hard-fought battle with cancer.

Alan was born March 9, 1948, in Crawfordsville, the son of Warren and Marjorie (Wilson) Buser.

Alan grew up in Roachdale where he attended grade school and graduated from Roachdale High School.

He went to Purdue Pharmacy School, graduating in June 1971.

Many in Crawfordsville were fortunate to have known Alan as a pharmacist for 50 years before he retired in October 2018. During his career he worked for Hook's Drugs, Revco, CVS and Kroger pharmacies.

He was dedicated to his career, co-workers and customers. He loved to talk with everyone he met, make them laugh, and listen to their stories.

While Alan had a nearly unmatched passion for his career and the many lives he touched through it, above all, Alan loved his family.

Alan is survived by Sherry, his loving wife of 39 years; daughter, Lori, son-in-law, Matt, and two grandsons.

At every extended family gathering Alan was the consummate entertainer, with a limitless supply of stories and jokes; he relished the chance to make others laugh and was known to spontaneously break into a song or a dance. Alan possessed an infectious enthusiasm that drew people to him and that made their lives richer for having known him.

A public viewing will be held at Burkhart Funeral Home, Crawfordsville, on Thursday, Jan. 7 from 3-6 p.m. Out of respect for attendees’ health, immediate family will not be present, but all are welcome to celebrate a man who will be so greatly missed.

The family requests those who wish to express sympathy to consider making a donation in Alan’s name to the Marie Canine Cancer Center, 1706 Lafayette Rd., Crawfordsville, IN 47933. The support of the nurses and staff at the Marie Canine Center were a true gift during his many treatments there.
