George Everett Parker

George Everett Parker, 87, passed away on Friday, Jan. 8, 2021 at his home in Lewisville.

He was born Wednesday, Dec. 27, 1933 in Morgan County to the late William A. and Hazel V. (Rice) Parker.

George was a 1951 graduate of Eminence High School and went on to serve his country in the United States Army. While stationed in Germany he met Ilse Becker and they were married on July 14, 1956.

George worked as an order clerk for Link-Belt Co. in Indianapolis, which later became Rexnord, from where he retired after 40 years.

George was a member of Corinth Baptist Church in Plano where he grew up and was one of the founders of the A&A Township Volunteer Fire Department.

George was known as a can-do kind of guy, he turned the original three-room house to what it is today. When he wanted a satellite dish, he took a welding class and built one. In the ‘70s he learned how to build a computer and program games.

George was very frugal, building his kids an above-ground swimming pool rather than buying one. He was a quiet guy but when he did talk, everyone listened. He also enjoyed going to auctions, gardening and spending time with family and friends.

George is survived by his wife, Ilse; children Doris (Lynn) Faletic of Cloverdale, Carol Heckel and friend Todd Everett of Mooresville, Patty (Tim) Salyers of Clayton, Terry (Jim) Polston of New Palestine and Steven Parker of Quincy; siblings Carl Parker, William Parker, M. Blaine Parker, Robert Parker, Dorothy Clements, Mary Parker and Barbara Merchant; seven grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by sisters, Judith Jones and Wanda Tomlinson.

Services will be at Mannan Cemetery in Lewisville on Tuesday, Jan. 12 at 2 p.m., officiated by Rev. Nick Robertson.
