County Jail

Four people were booked in the Putnam County Jail recently.

Sunday

• At 3:40 p.m. McKenzie C. King, 24, Greencastle, was lodged at the jail for neglect of a dependent.

• At 2:53 a.m. Donald F. McCormick, 33, Greencastle, was taken into custody for invasion of privacy and on a Marion County warrant.

Saturday

• At 10:37 p.m. Kellsey L. Keyt, 24, Greencastle, was housed at the jail for driving while intoxicated while endangering a person.

Thursday

• At 9:02 a.m. John W. Harden, 33, Lizton, was booked in for driving with a suspended license.

City Police

Two property-damage accidents and a citation were among recent activity investigated by Greencastle City Police officers.

• At 4 p.m. Saturday, a one-vehicle mishap was reported by Officer Brad Hiatt.

Gregory Stevens, 62, Waynetown, stopped at GPD to report that he was southbound on Jackson Street in a 2008 GMC Sierra when a northbound vehicle crossed the center line, causing Stevens to pull to the right.

Consequently his vehicle crossed over the fog line and struck a guardrail.

Total damage in the accident was estimated at $2,500-$5,000.

• At 12:46 p.m. Thursday, a two-vehicle accident was reported on Indianapolis Road, just east of 10th Street.

Sgt. Ed Wilson reported that Lisa Bishop, 61, Greencastle, was attempting to enter the travel lane of Indianapolis Road from the Dollar General driveway when her 2015 Jeep struck a 2013 Chrysler Town and Country, driven by Donna Bushong, 64, Crawfordsville.

Bushong told police she was westbound when Bishop pulled into her path and the collision occurred.

Total damage in the mishap was estimated at $2,500-$5,000.

One recent citation was issued by city officers.

• At 11:12 p.m. Saturday, Catelyn Cloncs, 25, Greencastle, was ticketed by Officer Alec Pettit.

Stopped on Bloomington Street, Cloncs was cited for driving with a suspended license with a prior offense.

Sheriff’s Office

Putnam County sheriff’s deputies investigated one recent property-damage crash.

• At 7:06 p.m. on Saturday, Kellye J. Frye, 55, Plainfield, was southbound on State Road 243 in a 2007 Pontiac Vibe when she hit a deer.

Deputy Robert Soilleux estimated damage at $5,000-$10,000.

City Fire

The Greencastle Fire Department responded to three recent dispatches:

• At 7:21 p.m. on Saturday, GFD was dispatched to Opportunity Housing for a fire alarm. Firefighters arrived at 7:24 and determined the alarm was due to cooking. The alarm was reset. GFD went back into service at 7:34 p.m.

• At 9:49 p.m. on Saturday, GFD was dispatched to 607 Anderson St. for a gas odor. Firefighters arrived at 9:56 and monitored the property, but did not detect anything. GFD went back into service at 10:08 p.m.

• At 10:59 p.m. on Saturday, GFD was dispatched to 904 Crown St. for a gas odor. Firefighters arrived at 11:01 p.m. and were advised that a gas smell was coming from a furnace pipe. No carbon monoxide was detected, and the gas to the furnace was secured. GFD went back into service at 11:16 p.m.

Additionally, GFD recently performed 10 medical assists and had four disregards.
