Beverly Meal Wagoner

Beverly Meal Wagoner passed away peacefully Jan. 10, 2021 at Asbury Towers with hospice care and her son at her side.

Born, June 1, 1923 in Rush County, Ind., she was the daughter of Chester and Faye (Scull) Meal.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, brothers Harlan and Stanley and sister Beth Kay Gahimer.

She is survived by her sons, Paul of Medford, Mass., and Charles Todd and wife Sue of Rockville and their daughter, Beth. Other survivors are her sisters, Barbara White of Carthage and Faith Laird of Waldron, and many nieces, nephews, grandnieces and grandnephews.

Beverly graduated from Waldron High School in 1941 and Methodist Hospital School of Nursing in 1944, serving in the Army Nurse Corps in World War II.

She married Kenneth S. Wagoner on Dec. 20, 1946. She was a member of Gobin Memorial United Methodist Church. She was an active volunteer for several organizations and returned to nursing in the 1960s, working for decades in various settings.

She wrote histories of her parents, her Army nursing service and her aunt Fern. She sought to maintain the connections among her parents’ descendants and her greatest pleasure was to be surrounded by her extended family.

A memorial service will be held at a later date.
