Anna Louise Pershing was called to her heavenly home on January 12, 2021.

Louise was born on New Year’s Day, Jan. 1, 1931 in Worthington. She was the daughter of Scott and Anna (Arthur) Vandeventer.

She married John D. Pershing and they enjoyed 62 years of marriage before his passing in 2013.

Louise was a member of First Baptist Church. She loved her church family and friends and served the Lord on several boards and committees through the years. She was a founding member of the Merry Jills Home Extension Club and a past president for the county Extension Homemakers.

Louise was a great cook, seamstress and loved to host parties, meetings and family gatherings at her home.

Louise is survived by her three daughters, Pamela Curran of Monticello, Dede (Terry) Black of Greencastle and Joni (Lance) Shelton of Manistique, Mich.; her granddaughter, Julie Black of Greencastle; her grandson, Brian Curran of Avon; her sister, Mary Biltz of Indianapolis; two nieces, Robin Biltz Pickens and Karrie Biltz McCan; and two nephews, Ernie Biltz and Randy Vandeventer.

She was preceded in death by her husband, John; a son-in-law, Verlon Curran; a brother, Dale Vandeventer; a sister-in-law, Peggy Vandeventer; and a brother-in-law, Thomas Biltz.

Services will be held 1 p.m. on Monday, Jan. 18 at Hopkins-Rector Funeral Home with Pastor Tom Blodgett officiating. Visitation will be from 11 a.m. until time of service on Monday. All COVID-19 precautions will be observed and masks will be mandatory.

In lieu of flowers, donations in Louise’s honor may be sent to the memorial board of First Baptist Church, 404 Judson Drive, Greencastle, IN 46135.
