WASHINGTON, D.C. -- Indiana 4th District Congressman Jim Baird (R-Greencastle) will continue to serve on the Agriculture Committee and the Science, Space and Technology Committee for the 117th Congress, he announced Thursday.

“I look forward to continuing vital work on both committees,” Rep. Baird said. “Last Congress, I was proud to lead on the Building Blocks of STEM Act and the Coronavirus Food Assistance Program. Now it’s time to address unfinished business that will help Hoosier farmers and advance scientific education at institutions like Purdue University.”

“I’m pleased to have Congressman Baird returning to the House Agriculture Committee to continue our work fighting for rural America,” Rep. Glenn “GT” Thompson, Republican Leader of the House Agriculture Committee, said.“He is a strong voice for the Midwest and his input will be incredibly valuable as we begin work on the next farm bill.”

“I’m pleased that Congressman Baird is returning to the Science Committee. In his leadership of the Research and Technology Subcommittee last Congress, he was a strong advocate for cutting-edge research and development. His work on STEM education, industries of the future, and America’s scientific competitiveness will be just as important moving forward, and I’m looking forward to continuing our work together,” Rep. Frank Lucas, Republican Leader of the House Science, Space, & Technology Committee, said.

During the next two years, Congressman Baird wants to utilize his position on the two committees to create the next farm bill, strengthen our food supply chain, increase resources for STEM education and counter the Chinese Communist Party’s growing capabilities in vital technological industries like artificial intelligence.

Keep bellyin' up to the trough, Mr. Baird...

For those that don't know, Committee assignments come with pay. More taxpayer money spent on people spending taxpayer money unconstitutionally.

    Must be a nice gig.

And what do we get for this? The "Farm Bill" which is an absolute boondoggle of pork, waste, fraud, and abuse designed to pay people for votes in various ways.

The last one was $867 BILLION.

In case you didn't know, food stamps (SNAP) is almost 76% of the farm bill.

Perhaps you can show me in the US Constitution where the Federal Government is responsible for buying people grocery carts full of garbage processed foods that ultimately puts more money in the pockets of your Big Ag cronies.

You are an absolute disgrace to your district and the state of Indiana.

  • Uncompromising words and beliefs are rather rare these days. DPR-thanks for so often putting into words what so many are thinking. I have forwarded your comments to others who would otherwise not have the opportunity to read them.
