Marjorie Ann Williams Shinn, 88, of Greencastle, passed away on Saturday, Feb. 6, 2021 at her residence surrounded by her family.

Marjorie was born in Catlin on Sept. 24, 1932, the daughter of Benjamin Warren and Grace Ethel (Switzer) Jenkins.

She worked for GTE in Greencastle for more than 30 years until her retirement.

Marjorie loved her grandchildren dearly and dedicated her life to them. Marjorie’s family was her entire world. She was always supportive and an active part throughout their lives. Marjorie was so blessed to help raise four generations throughout her lifetime. She cared so much for those around her and her smile is something that will be remembered.

As a Christian, her faith and love for Jesus was strong. Her favorite place of worship was in the comfort of her own home watching Joel Osteen give a sermon on the television.

Marjorie had a love for reading, spent many days journaling, writing in her Bible, reminiscing on past times, talking on the phone with family, babysitting, and being there mentally, emotionally and physically for anyone in need. Marjorie lived a wonderful life. Her memories as an amazing person with a beautiful soul will live on forever.

Survivors include her four children, Barbara Masten (Dick) of Greencastle, Gary (Marla) Williams, of Middlebury, Keith (Joanie) Williams of Laporte and Beverly (Todd) Crawford of Greencastle; three stepchildren Melva Copley, Michael Shinn and David Shinn; a sister, Doris Talbott of Greencastle; 12 grandchildren, Nikki Branham, Frank Branham, Cori (Hank) Willems, Jolene (Michael) Young, Brant (Angie) Williams, Eric (Beth) Williams, Alicia (Chance) Harden, Dustin (Lindsey) Williams, Andrea Williams, Shannon (Brent) Cash, Erica (Scott) Backus and Shaylynn Skene (Jakes Adei); 20 great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; three brothers, Walter, Kenneth and Robert Jenkins; an infant sister, Joanne Jenkins; her first husband and father of her children, Louis Williams; former husband Melvin Shinn; a son, Wesley Williams; two stepdaughters, Linda Meyers and Darlene Otey; a granddaughter, Kari Williams; and a great-great-grandson, Jaxcin Williams.

At Marjorie’s request, the family will forgo a funeral. Graveside services will be held 1 p.m. Monday, Feb. 15 at Clinton Falls Cemetery with Pastor Jerry Campbell officiating.
