County under travel watch

Monday, February 15, 2021 ~ Updated 8:36 AM

Under a travel warning, the highest level of local travel advisory, since Monday evening, Putnam County returned to a travel watch Tuesday afternoon.

A watch means that conditions are threatening to the safety of the public. During a "watch" local travel advisory, only essential travel, such as to and from work or in emergency situations, is recommended, and emergency action plans should be implemented by businesses, schools, government agencies, and other organizations.

Commissioner Rick Woodall said the Putnam County Highway Department will have crews out 24 hours a day, clearing and maintaining roads, through Wednesday night.

  • How many more accidents and slide offs does it take to get to the red status?

    Asking for a friend.

  • Don't think that is part of the equation.

  • We are currently red, just FYI.

But, can somebody just explain to me what the following means:

"travel MAY be restricted to emergency management workers only".

Is it or isn't it restricted? How would we know if it were restricted (newspaper, sirens, ??). I mean, I can't get my car out of the driveway, so I'm not driving anywhere, but I don't understand that sentence. Just curious - I'm sure it's simple. Thanks
