County Jail

Seven people were booked in the Putnam County Jail recently.

Monday

• At 12:53 a.m. Jamie L. Bundy, 24, Indianapolis, was taken into custody for possession of marijuana and possession of paraphernalia.

Sunday

• At 10:58 p.m. Alison M. O’Brocki, 27, Greencastle, was housed at the jail for criminal recklessness.

Saturday

• At 12:54 p.m. Ronald Cupp, 68, Reelsville, was booked in on a local warrant.

Friday

• At 8:04 p.m. David W. Thompson, 34, Greencastle, was lodged at the jail on a warrant.

Thursday

• At 10:40 a.m. Daniel A. Bruce, 36, Greencastle, was taken into custody for criminal trespass.

• At 10:13 a.m. Jeremy W. Shepherd, 31, Avon, was housed at the jail for nonsupport of a dependent child.

• At 10:10 a.m. Laura L. Williams, 45, Poland, was booked in on a local warrant for burglary.

Parke County Jail

A Putnam County man was arrested Friday and lodged in the Parke County Jail at Rockville.

Clinton Reese, 38, Roachdale, was arrested following a traffic stop near Marshall.

During the stop, deputies located a handgun in the vehicle as well as drug paraphernalia. Reese was subsequently held on charges of unlawful possession of a handgun and possession of paraphernalia.

City Police

Two recent arrests were reported by Greencastle City Police officers.

• At 5:25 p.m. Thursday, Lisa Stehle, 50, Brazil, was arrested by Officer Jared McDaniel.

Stopped on State Road 240, Stehle was taken into custody on a Putnam County warrant for leaving the scene of an accident and for criminal mischief. She was subsequently taken to the Putnam County Jail.

• At 10:15 a.m. Feb. 22, Matthew Crow, 32, Greencastle, was arrested by Officer Zach Rhine.

Taken into custody at Zinc Mill Apartments, Crow was arrested on a Putnam County warrant for failure to appear in court on an operating a motor vehicle while intoxicated charge.

Meanwhile, two parked vehicles were damaged in a 6:51 a.m. accident Thursday on North Indiana Street near East Liberty Street.

Amy Murphy, 37, Greencastle, told Officer Nick Eastham that she was northbound on Indiana, texting her boss as she operated a 2000 Dodge Caravan.

The Murphy vehicle reportedly drifted to the right, striking a parked 2015 Hyundai Elantra owned by Mark and Melissa Schultz, Brazil.

The impact pushed the Schultz car into a 2010 Buick Enclave parked in front it and owned by Dean Young, Brazil, spinning it into the northbound lane where the Murphy vehicle then struck it.

Total damage was estimated in excess of $10,000.

Murphy was cited for distracted driving and operating a vehicle without financial responsibility.

Sheriff’s Office

Putnam County sheriff’s deputies investigated one recent property-damage crash.

• At 4:28 p.m. on Thursday, Sharon A. Nicoson, 53, Cory, was turning east onto County Road 300 South from Hospital Drive in a 2014 Jeep Grand Cherokee. Kameron E. Hayes, 22, Greencastle, was westbound on County Road 300 South in a 2008 Chevrolet Malibu.

Nicoson told Deputy Scott Ducker that as she turned, she saw Hayes come over the crest of a hill but could not get out of his way. Hayes said he tried to swerve but could not avoid a collision.

Ducker estimated damage at $5,000-$10,000.

Hayes was cited for driving without a license.

City Fire

The Greencastle Fire Department recently responded to three dispatches:

• At 11:31 a.m. on Saturday, GFD was dispatched to the apartments at 330 Greenwood Ave. for people stuck in an elevator. Firefighters arrived at 11:40 and freed them. GFD went back into service at 11:47 a.m.

• At 6:30 p.m. on Sunday, GFD was dispatched to Ascena Retail for a fire alarm. Firefighters arrived at 6:35 and determined the alarm was an accidental activation. GFD went back into service at 7:09 p.m.

• At 9:55 p.m. on Sunday, GFD was dispatched to the apartments at 330 Greenwood Ave. for a fire alarm. Firefighters arrived at 10 p.m. and determined the alarm was caused by an overheating light fixture. GFD went back into service at 10:10 p.m.

Additionally, GFD recently performed 11 medical assists.
