February 2021 ranks among the coldest, snowiest ever

If not, you had to be among the minority in central Indiana as the average monthly temperature for February 2021 was 25.9 degrees in central Indiana, according to the National Weather Service office at Indianapolis.
Was there bad news on your doorstep?
Certainly when there was 10 inches or more of snow on the ground last month.
And for the month, February 2021 produced 11.8 inches of snow (1.84 inches of precipitation), ranking as the 20th snowiest February on record.
An average February sees 6.5 inches of snowfall and 2.32 inches of precipitation.
The monthly snowfall record for February was set in 2003 with 21.7 inches of snow.
Meanwhile, the typical February has an average high of 40.2 degrees and average low of 23.9. So for 2021, the average daily temperature of 25.9 was nearly the normal low for the month.
Of course, that all was fueled by a 15-day stretch where the high failed to reach 32 degrees in central Indiana, all adding up to the 25th coldest February on record.
February 2021 featured a high of 61 on Feb. 28 and a low of zero on Feb. 7.
Temperature records for February are a high of 77 on Feb. 20, 2018 and a low of -21 on Feb. 10, 1982.
