Monday, March 8, 2021

Director Shelly McFadden will helm “The Hunchback of Notre Dame,” the musical, the Putnam County Playhouse 60th season opener.

Her work will begin with auditions at the Rehearsal Center at the Hazel Day Longden Theatre.

“Our first set of auditions will be for the choir only,” McFadden said. “This group of singers – two double quartets - acts as the storyteller for the musical. They will be onstage for the entire show.”

Auditions for the choir will be Sunday, March 14 at 3 p.m. and Monday, March 15 at 7 p.m.

Standard Covid protocols will be in place, including wearing of masks and social distancing. All of those auditioning should be at least 16 years old. Please prepare at least 16-32 measures of a song. An accompanist will be provided.

Auditions for roles in the musical and for the congregation (who play multiple roles) will be on Sunday, March 28 at 3 p.m. and Monday, March 29 at 7 p.m. Those interested in those roles should also prepare a memorized selection of no more than 32 measures. An accompanist will be provided at that time as well.

A capella auditions are discouraged at either session.
