GHS bowlers compete at sectional

Friday, March 12, 2021

Members of the Greencastle High School bowling team recently competed in the Wabash Valley South Conference Sectional, with three advancing to individual regional competition.

Samara Alexander, Bailey Friars, Dawson Lyons, Lilli Oliver and R.J. Torres traveled to Lebanon and Crawfordsville on March 7 and 8 to take part.

At the team competition Saturday in Lebanon, the team bowled above its average but was unable to advance to regional.

On Sunday, in individual competition in Crawfordsville, the three girls did GHS proud by all making the cut to advance to regional.

In fact, all three bowled well enough to compete in the step-ladder roll-offs to decide the overall sectional champion.

Alexander finished fourth, while Oliver was third.

Friars was able to defeat her North Montgomery competitor to be crowned the sectional champion.
