GreenRoom presenting makeover contest

With the tough times of the last year, one new local salon, and a pair of partner businesses, are looking to make one woman’s life better with a makeover on Mother’s Day weekend.

On Thursday, GreenRoom Salon & Spa, Simply Rustik Boutique and Bridges Craft Pizza & Wine Bar announced their “Beautiful YOU” total transformation makeover contest.

“We’re all pitching in to give somebody a boost,” Bobbie Lancaster of GreenRoom said.

From now through April 26, GreenRoom will be taking nominations of women in the Putnam County community who might be deserving of a makeover, shopping spree and night out. This could be due to the tough times the COVID-19 pandemic and other circumstances have brought upon her, or because of how she’s risen up to become a leader and hero in these trying times.

The winner will receive a spa day from GreenRoom — including a facial and massage and a fresh hair color, cut and style — a shopping spree at Simply Rustik and dinner for two at Bridges.

The prize is valued at more than $500.

Anyone wishing to submit an entry may do so at greenroomgreencastle@gmail.com. Entries should included:

• Name and recent photo of the nominee.

• Her story: Why is she being nominated? How has she faced the challenges of this season?

• Nominator’s name and contact information.

• Nominee’s contact information.

Nominees must be Putnam County residents and available on Saturday, May 8.

“Feeling great is the hardest thing in the world to do — especially when life has kicked you in the butt,” Lancaster said. “Coming out of this pandemic and this horrible period of divisiveness, this is what we need.”

The winner will not be chosen by the sponsors, but by a panel of local women that includes Sue Murray, Tosh Everson, Mary Birt, Tami VanRensselaer, Kathy Asbell and Ginger Scott.

“I feel like we have a beautiful group of strong and compassionate women who can help decide who that winner is going to be,” Lancaster said.

Once the nomination period closes on April 26, a winner will be announced live on social media on May 3.

The winner will then receive her transformation on Saturday, May 8, just in time for Mother’s Day.
