County Jail

Ten people were booked in the Putnam County Jail recently.

Wednesday

• At 11:51 p.m. Harry R. Frazier, 43, Crawfordsville, was housed at the jail for driving while intoxicated.

• At 12:47 p.m. Austin R. Chadd, 27, Greencastle, was booked in on a local warrant.

• At 10:12 a.m. Rick L. Green, 44, Greencastle, was lodged at the jail on a local warrant.

• At 12:41 a.m. Chelsea R. Kelly, 31, Terre Haute, was taken into custody for driving without ever receiving a license.

Tuesday

• At 8:59 p.m. Thomas R. Childers, 42, Roachdale, was housed at the jail on a Morgan County warrant.

• At 9:57 a.m. Charles Z. Atkinson, 37, Terre Haute, was booked in for driving with a suspended license.

• At 4:27 a.m. Anna K. Spencer, 24, Quincy, was lodged at the jail for domestic battery.

Monday

• At 3:30 p.m. Jesse L. Stout, 21, Fillmore, was booked in on two counts of theft.

• At 1:19 p.m. Brady A. King, 31, Martinsville, was taken into custody for driving with a suspended license.

• At 11:34 a.m. Anthony J. Hicks, 52, Greencastle, was housed at the jail on a court order.

City Police

Three recent arrests were reported by Greencastle City Police officers.

• At 12:24 a.m. Tuesday, Donald D. Smith, 46, Greencastle, was arrested by Officer Luke Brown.

Taken into custody at Poplar and Locust streets for domestic battery, Smith was lodged in the Putnam County Jail. He also faces charges of possession of synthetic marijuana and possession of paraphernalia.

• At 1:15 p.m. Monday, Patricia L. Perry, 32, Greencastle, was arrested by Officer Zach Rhine on Indianapolis Road,

Lodged in the Putnam County Jail, Perry was arrested on a Putnam County warrant for failure to appear in court on a theft charge.

• At 10:33 p.m. Eric L. Billings, 35, Greencastle, was arrested by Officer Brown at Bloomington and Apple streets.

Taken into custody on a Putnam County warrant for failure to appear on an original charge of counterfeiting, Billings was lodged in the Putnam County Jail.

Meanwhile, two teenagers were issued summons into court on theft charges by Officer Alex Pettit.

Micah Friedman, 19, Milbury, Mass., and Joseph Thome, 18, Chicago, were stopped by Officer Pettit in the 400 block of Bloomington Street after their car was seen leaving Robe-Ann Park.

Pettit was responding to a report of a vandalism incident at the park and saw a car matching the description of the suspect vehicle. When he pulled the car over, Friedman and Thome were reportedly in possession of a sign taken from the park.

Two more summons were issued by city officers.

• At 6:07 p.m. Tuesday, Ciara Allen, 23, Greencastle, received a summons for possession of marijuana from Officer Angela Taylor in the McDonald’s parking lot on Indianapolis Road.

Allen reportedly called to report that she had locked her keys in the car and the vehicle was smoking. Greencastle Fire Department officials responded to the scene along with Officer Taylor.

• At 4:40 p.m. on March 31, James Workman, 28, Plainfield, was issued a summons by Sgt. Ed Wilson.

Workman was stopped on Shadowlawn Avenue and issued a summons into court for reckless driving and driving with a suspended license with a prior offense.

Sheriff’s Office

Putnam County sheriff’s deputies investigated one recent property-damage crash.

• At 7:07 a.m. on Monday, Jennifer A. Detro, 56, Russellville, was southbound on South Public Road in Russellville in a 2004 Jeep Liberty. Erick O. Judy, 50, Greencastle, was eastbound on Railroad Street in a 1995 Jeep Wrangler.

Detro told Cpl. Brian Helmer she stopped at the stop sign at Railroad Street but then proceeded into the intersection, as her view was obstructed by a building. The two vehicles collided in the intersection.

Judy told Helmer he was eastbound when Detro pulled into his path of travel.

Judy also told Helmer that while he and Detro waited for law enforcement to arrive, he had seen numerous vehicles disregard the stop sign.

Helmer estimated damage at $5,000-$10,000.

City Fire

The Greencastle Fire Department responded to five recent dispatches:

• At 6:09 p.m. on Tuesday, GFD was dispatched to McDonald’s for a fuel spill. Firefighters arrived at 6:14 and cleaned up the roadway. GFD went back into service at 6:29 p.m.

• At 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday, GFD was dispatched to a brush fire at 1420 W. CR 280 South. Firefighters arrived on the scene at 7:36 and had the fire extinguished by 7:45. GFD went back into service at 7:46 p.m.

• At 9:52 p.m. on Tuesday, GFD was dispatched to 515 Elm St. for a smoke odor. Firefighters arrived at 10:01 p.m. and determined that a thermostat had melted in a water heater. The power was turned off, and GFD went back into service at 10:14 p.m.

• At 6:09 p.m. on Wednesday, GFD was dispatched to the apartments at 330 Greenwood Ave. for a fire alarm. Firefighters arrived at 6:13 and determined the alarm was due to burnt pizza rolls. The alarm was reset. GFD went back into service at 6:32 p.m.

• At 7:22 p.m. on Wednesday, GFD was dispatched to 315 E. Hanna St. for a smoke odor. Firefighters arrived at 7:25 and determined that a pizza box had been burned in an oven. The alarm was reset. GFD went back into service at 7:34 p.m.

Additionally, GFD recently performed six medical assists.
