OCRA water utility grant public hearing set Monday, April 19

Thursday, April 15, 2021

The City of Greencastle will conduct a required public hearing on its OCRA grant proposal to finance various water system improvements on Monday, April 19.

The public hearing is a required part of the OCRA application process. The hearing is not required to take place during a City Council meeting.

The project has various elements, including a new generator at the water plant, replacement of the Albin Pond Road water line, various valve replacements, and replacements of several fire hydrants within the city limits.

The grant does not include the replacement of fire hydrants outside the city limits. Local match is provided by the water improvement fund.

The public hearing is scheduled for 7 p.m. Monday at City Hall. The hearing has already been legally advertised.

If the proposal is accepted by OCRA, the city then moves to the full application stage which will be submitted later this summer.

Persons can Zoom into the meeting to listen to anyone that should wishes to make a statement. To join the Zoom meeting, go to https://us02web.zoom.us/j/8283332867.

As of Wednesday OCRA has added a requirement as a result of the passage of the American Rescue Plan funding.
