Pedestrian dies after being hit by car on SR 240

A woman died early Saturday morning after she was hit by a car on the city’s east side.

According to reports from both the Putnam County Sheriff’s Office and Putnam County Coroner’s Office, the female victim was reportedly walking in the middle of State Road 240 in front of Crown Equipment.

Release of the victim’s name is not expected until Sunday.

Toxicology results are pending on both the driver and the victim.

More information will be released when it becomes available.
