CLOVERDALE — School leaders recently took a big step forward with upcoming building improvements at Cloverdale Schools.

The Cloverdale School Board approved a guaranteed savings contract with EMCOR Construction Services at its regular session a week ago.

The renovations will be under way more than two years after they were first considered.

A guaranteed savings contract is one through which a provider can make a guarantee of reduced energy and operating costs of one or a number of buildings.

The project will include a replacement of Cloverdale High School’s domestic water heater, as well as a remodel of the gymnasium restrooms and ventilation system. The repairs at the high school also include replacing the central core chiller as well as carpet replacement.

Repairs at Cloverdale Middle School will include a chiller replacement and window repair. Meanwhile at Cloverdale Elementary School, they will include replacing a main distribution panel (MDP) and exhaust fans, as well as carpet replacement and window repair.

The contract stipulates that EMCOR is not responsible for the maintenance, repair or replacement of equipment beyond a one-year warranty period. This can include ductwork, heat exchangers, coils, wiring and piping.

The contract sets the cost of the renovations in total at $3,797,564. The work will be carried out by Shambaugh & Son, the same contractor which recently did major building renovations at North Putnam High School.

Superintendent Greg Linton stated at the meeting that Stacy Barclay of Sutherlin, Zeiner & Barclay had reviewed and approved the contract.

According to the contract, the renovations are set to be under way by May 3 and completed before the end of the year.
