Mother Nature got cheeky with the “spring-like” weather as it turned into snow on Tuesday. An oxymoron in itself, tulips on the front porch of the Selvia home on Franklin Street are frosted yet lively.

A record-breaking two inches of snow was reported Tuesday night at the National Weather Service office in Indianapolis, breaking the previous record for April 20 of only a trace last set in 2000. It marks only the second time measurable snow has been reported this late in season in 91 years, the National Weather Service reported. It is the second-heaviest snowfall to occur in central Indiana this late in the season behind 2.4 inches on May 2, 1897. Tuesday also posted a record low of 27 degrees.
