The Putnam County 4-H Fair Parade will return on Sunday, July 18 at 2 p.m., organizers have announced.

The fair parade is making its comeback this year, traveling down its familiar route of Washington Street to downtown Greencastle. Organizers are looking forward to a traditional event that will include a grand marshal, horses, police and fire trucks, floats, queens, tractors and all of the other attractions.

The 2020 fair parade was canceled due to COVID concerns.

For those who wish to participate in the parade, registration is now open to reserve a spot in this time-honored tradition. Persons can register at www.putcofair.org. Registration deadline is Wednesday July 14.

Fair parade organizers have been working closely with the Putnam County Health Department.

With COVID-19 still considered a risk, it is asked that families sit together and practice social distancing. The CDC is currently recommending the wearing of masks and maintaining a distance of six feet even when outside and/or vaccinated. Organizers ask that you stay home if you are showing any symptoms of illness.

Fair parade officials will be monitoring the guidelines set forth by the CDC, Indiana State Department of Health and the Putnam County Health Department. In the event public health officials begin to record a surge in COVID-19 cases, then it will be recommended the parade be canceled.

The annual Putnam County 4-H Fair will begin on Friday, July 23.
