Daniel Seaman and Friends perform for virtual concert series

The Greencastle Summer Music Festival, which will resume in-person concerts on Wednesday, June 2 at Gobin Church, presents a special additional “Virtual Music Festival” program Wednesday with a live watch party on Zoom (http://gvmf.live) at 7:30 p.m.

The prerecorded concert, the festival’s 29th COVID-19 inspired event, will go “live” simultaneously on Facebook and Youtube.

This week’s concert features Greencastle’s Daniel Mattia Seaman, a french hornist now doing graduate work in music performance at the IU Jacobs School of Music, along with four fellow IU students who form what is known as a “woodwind quintet” -- flute, clarinet, oboe, bassoon and french horn.

The five musicians will perform music by Gyorgy Ligeti, Darius Milhaud, Amy Beach and Malcom Arnold. Audio and video recording and editing was done by Matthew Champagne.

“I’d really hoped to have Daniel and his colleagues perform for us in our in-person concerts,” concert series creator Eric Edberg said, “but several members of the groups live in other states and are going home for the summer. I’m delighted we were able to film them for one more ‘virtual only’ concert. We do look forward to live streaming our summer in-person concerts as well as rebroadcasting them on Channel 3 in Greencastle,”
