Summer Enrichment Program takes flight

Monday, May 17, 2021

For more than three decades, the Summer Enrichment Program in Putnam County, a United Way agency, has provided a safe haven and a vital safety net for children.

The program will once again provide five weeks of enrichment activities for elementary-age school children in Putnam County with identified risk factors.

The camp, based out of Gobin Church, will begin Wednesday, June 2 and end Friday, July 2. Students will participate in a variety of hands-on learning activities focused on science, math, fine arts and social skills all centered around this year’s theme “Taking Flight.”

The camp also promotes healthy bodies by providing breakfast and lunch at Ridpath Primary School as well as swim lessons at the Greencastle Aquatic Center. For the health and safety of all those involved, strict CDC guidelines will be followed for the camp’s entirety.

There is no cost to participate in the program.

The Summer Enrichment Program hopes to raise sufficient funds to continue these efforts and provide educational field trips. If interested in supporting this goal with a donation, tax-deductible contributions should be made payable to Gobin Church with SEP on the memo line or by visiting gobinchurch.org and selecting SEP under the Give tab.

If interested in enrolling a child in the Summer Enrichment Program or applying for a paid position as a counselor or a mentor, contact Executive Director Misti Scott at mscott@depauw.edu.
