Putnam County Habitat for Humanity is the latest quarterly local recipient of a grant from 100+ Men Who Care of Putnam County. This quarter’s check was in the amount of $10,800.

Habitat’s vision is of a world where everyone has a decent place to live. Habitat works toward that vision by building strength, stability and self-reliance in partnership with families in need of decent and affordable housing. Habitat homeowners help build their own homes alongside volunteers and pay an affordable mortgage.

Following the national model, 100+ Men Who Care meets four times a year to award funds to a Putnam County 501(c)(3) organization. The remaining meetings for 2021 are scheduled to be during the evenings of July 14, Sept. 15 and Nov. 17 at the Inn at DePauw.

Since its inception in January 2016, the group has awarded more than $290,000 to 20 different Putnam County charities and nonprofit organizations.

In addition to the quarterly grants, the group also has created a community grants endowment at the Putnam County Community Foundation that will provide more than $4,000 a year for the Foundation to utilize in its community grant-making process.

100+ Men Who Care was created based on two principles: There were men who wanted to give back to the community but lacked the time to do fundraising or serve on boards, and the process needed to be fun and easy.
