Thelma Marie Fulford

Thelma Marie Fulford, 90, of Springfield, Fla., formerly of Greencastle and Shelburn, passed away on Saturday, June 19, 2021 at home with her family by her side.

She was born on Sept. 11, 1930 in Prairie Creek to John Treadway and Inez (Lucas) Treadway.

She married Lindell Lee Fulford on Feb. 28, 1953.

She gave birth to three children, Linda Gail Fulford Mahurin, Ronald Lee Fulford and Richard Allen Fulford.

Thelma grew up in Wilfre, Ind., and lived most of her life in Greencastle. She resided in Springhill, Fla., at the time of her death.

Thelma had worked at McHugh Funeral Home in Shelburn as a teenager, she then worked for DePauw University where she retired from in 1992.

She enjoyed going to the race track to watch her sons race, years of square dancing at the Young Men’s Club in Terre Haute, she attended Plant City, Fla., Strawberry Festival at every chance and every indoor or outdoor family gathering/cookout that she could.

She loved to travel and was on vacation at the time of her sudden illness.

She loved time with her 12 grandchildren, 27 great-grandchildren, and four great-great- grandchildren.

Thelma was preceded in death by her parents; husband; son Richard Allen Fulford; daughter Linda Gail Mahurin; sisters Betty Jean Koon, Esta Ruth Fox, Ethel Evitts, Mary Elizabeth Treadway and Mildred Joy Treadway; and brothers Les Lee Treadway, Wayne Treadway and Robert Franklin Treadway.

She is survived by her son, Ronald Lee Fulford, and grandchildren Chris Mahurin, David Mahurin, Crystal Nieten, Cody Fulford, Trisha Fulford, Danielle Taylor, Amanda Santos, John Fulford and Toni Reeves.

Services will be at 1 p.m. on Wednesday, June 23 at Holmes Memorial Chapel, Sullivan, with Pastor Steve Blaydes officiating.

Visitation will be on Wednesday from 11 a.m. until the time of services. Burial will be at Claiborne Cemetery.
