LETTER: Lawyers pushing ‘Trump lie’ should be held accountable

Thursday, July 15, 2021

To the Editor:

It is reassuring to me to see people held accountable for their actions.

Rudy Giuliani was once a well-respected lawyer in New York State. He is currently forbidden to practice law in New York State and in D.C.

The reason is because he lied to the courts and to the general public. Rudy and other lawyers took up the Trump lie that the election was not fair and that widespread voter fraud caused Trump to lose.

Lawyers are expected to maintain a minimum degree of good professional behavior.

Rudy and his group of lawyers filed some 60-plus court cases declaring voter fraud. ALL cases were dismissed due to lack of evidence. Now Rudy and his group are being held accountable in several states by being disbarred or sanctioned.

It saddens me to know that some people still believe this lie, even after each state investigated and recounted their ballots before certifying their election results and found NO widespread voter fraud. The lawyers are now being held accountable further exposing this lie for what it is — a lie.
