Thursday, July 15, 2021

PUTNAMVILLE -- The Putnamville United Methodist Church invites the community to a special gathering honoring Angie Godwin, who in 1915 established an orphanage in Greencastle which led to the Indiana United Methodist Children’s Home located in Lebanon, Ind.

On Wednesday, July 21 at 10:30 a.m., Susan Stewart of PUMC and Susan Bennett of IUMCH will speak about the history of Miss Godwin and the institutions which she initiated.

Following the presentations, a short ceremony will be conducted at Forest Hill Cemetery in Greencastle at 11:30 a.m. to commemorate a recent plaque placed on the tombstone of Angie Godwin.

Contributions from the five UMW units of Putnam County (Bainbridge, Fillmore, Gobin, Lena and Putnamville) plus the IUMCH Foundation made this effort possible.
