Help Putnam 4-H General Scholarship via Share the Dream

The Putnam County Community Foundation announced the Share the Dream program again for 2021, which spans the months of June and July. During the period, there is a guaranteed match of 50 cents for every dollar raised if a participating fund receives a minimum of 10 unique contributions of $25 or more.

Additionally, there are two grant funds given to the endowments that have the most unique contributions and also the greatest amount of contributions.

Join our family and help the 4-H General Scholarship reach its 10 unique individual contributions needed by month’s end. A $50 contribution from you will result in $75 going into the fund if there are 10 different unique individuals.

Visit the Putnam County Community Foundation website at www.pcfoundation.org for more details and find “Share The Dream” in its links for more details or better yet to securely contribute. There are a total of 25 participating funds.

Specific to 4-H, the 4-H General Scholarship endowment was selected between all of the four Putnam County 4-H scholarships administered by the Putnam County Community Foundation to be a Share the Dream participant.

Over the years, the 4-H General has accumulated fewer funds than its 4-H counterparts that include the Darrel Thomas, Livestock and Brookshire 4-H scholarships. It is hoped that focusing contributions to this fund will elevate its value to put it in balance with the other 4-H funds.

The 4-H General does not focus on graduating high school seniors; rather one must be entering his or her sophomore, junior or senior year of post-high school education. This is typically a more challenging time for youth to find grants and scholarships.

Otherwise this scholarship is must less restrictive in qualifying as a candidate relative to the livestock for example, where one must have been in a 4-H livestock project each the last five years of 4-H participation.

If one does not feel comfortable contributing online, one can stop by the Putnam County Community Foundation office in Greencastle or mail a check to Putnam County Community Foundation, 2 S. Jackson St., Greencastle, IN 46135. Make your check out to Putnam County Community Foundation and write 4-H General in the memo of the check, or provide a note directing your check to that specific fund.

The last few weeks have been a lot of fun to surprise students with winning these scholarships and present using Facebook Live for others to see. The students are certainly appreciative and the scholarship is certainly a well-earned award for their efforts in the 4-H program.
